It is located close to downtown, the museum district on Broadway, and the Pearl, Alamo Heights, Fort Sam Houston, and Brooke Army Medical Center.

Terrell Hills was founded in 1919 by six families and 3 bachelors who wanted to move from the city to build homesteads in a more rural area. The group chose a 24-acre tract formerly known as Terrell Farms.

Adjacent to Terrell Hills is the Austin Highway where revitalization is changing the face of the area. On Austin Hwy and adjacent to Terrell Hills is the McNay Art Museum www.mcnayart.org. The McNay houses world-renowned works of art in a Spanish Colonial mansion set on 23 gorgeous acres. Many wedding and high school prom photos are taken on the grounds of the McNay. New office buildings, high-end apartments, restaurants, and shopping centers are welcome additions to the Terrell Hills area. 

Terrell Hills offers a central location and schools in either Alamo Heights or North East ISD.
